Can I Declutter My Bible?
It’s one of the most popular questions I am asked and certainly one of the more difficult ones to answer. The Bible is our sacred text, it’s the breathed out Word of God, it’s living and active. In fact Hebrews 4:12 tells us:
Which, at least for me, seems to complicate the answer to that question even further! How can we donate or even recycle the Bible? It just seems wrong.
The fact of the matter is, even when we take the greatest of care with our Bibles they are just like everything else in the world—perishable. Apart from the living and active words printed on its pages it is just paper, maybe a little leather or even pleather. They deteriorate, fall apart, pages come loose or rip, covers come off, bindings break.
But the prophet Isaiah gives us hope!
The actual Word of God will stand FOREVER! Even if you recycle your Bible God’s Word never diminishes. But we do have alternatives and ways to pass along our Bibles that are still in good condition, but we are no longer using. Check out this weeks video to hear a few places you could donate your Bible. Here’s the link!
